Meet The Women Behind The Brand
To celebrate International Women's Day we want to shine a spotlight on a few of the incredible women behind Cyberjammies in the UK.
- Holly Jones - Merchandising Assistant 1) On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? Find something you love to do and keep working your hardest to achieve it. It may take a while but continuing to step out your comfort zone will pay off eventually. Don’t settle for something you don’t love if you are facing challenges, the hard work will pay off eventually. 2) How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? It is so important for women to support women. For me that means empowering and encouraging women and girls in everything we do, supporting women run businesses and even the little things like telling a girl you see in the street that you love her outfit!
- Georgia Thompson-Chase - Marketing & Digital Marketing Manager 1) On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and know your worth. Share your opinions and speak up, your voice is so important, no matter what industry you’re in. No one will look out for you quite like yourself so make sure to take care of yourself, you can’t pour from an empty cup and you’ll find you enjoy work more and can give more when you prioritise self care! 2) How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? So important. I grew up in a generation where the women I saw in the public eye were pitted against each other and judged purely by their appearance. It’s so important for us to lift each other up, to be each others biggest supporters and celebrate each other every day. As they say, ‘Blowing out someone else’s candle won’t make yours shine any brighter’. My biggest supporters are my female friends and family, there’s nothing like being surrounded by strong women in life!
- Phoebe Wright- Brand Executive 1) On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? Don’t worry if what you set out to do doesn’t end up being your career for life. Things change, life changes, your interests change and this only allows you to take a step back and work out what your new path can be. I started my career in sport after graduating in Sports Science but my other love has always been in fashion/clothing and therefore I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to have experience in them both & learn life lessons from them both, even though at the time I felt a bit overwhelmed when I was working on what to do next. I’m here to tell you it will all work out fine! 2) How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? I think it’s incredibly important! Whether it’s a grand gesture or something small as a simple well done and compliment to a fellow female, it’ll mean more than you think! The world can be a harsh place sometimes but there is also a lot of good and we need to make sure that we’re showcasing and shouting about our own achievements as women and of others close to us to uplift them and show them just how fab they are! It can make my day when someone has taken the time to cheer me on or congratulate me or just say something nice in passing!
- Alisha Keevil- Marketing Assistant 1) On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? It's so important to know that no matter what career path you want to take, whether its a Director, a stay at home mum, a nurse or even an astronaut, put your whole heart and passion into it! Believe in your abilities and strive for what you want to achieve. You may have some knock-backs, or some "be realistic" comments but that's a part of life. Get back up and carry on believing in yourself. 2) How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? It is so important to lift each-other up, There's so many amazing women out there, young and old, of all backgrounds! . Life and Society can be hard especially with the pressures of social media. A kind gesture or comment is such a small thing that can make someone's entire day. Helping someone else shine feels just as good as being in the spotlight yourself.
- Karen Lillywhite - Merchandising Manager 1) On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? If you have a career in mind go for it, nothing is stopping you but yourself. If you decide to have kids young or it happens by mistake, there's no reason why you can't choose or gain a career after and make it work. Take me for example, I had children at a young age and now have beautiful grandchildren and only I'm only in my 50's. This didn't stop me getting my career! I have a very successful job as a Merchandiser Manager for Cyberjammies and I love it. 2) How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? It's so important for women to lift each other up. I work in a femail led office and female industry and love this. Nothing stops a women working in a male led industry either.
- Sharon James - Customer Service Manager 1) On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? Hi to all the Ladies/Girls out there Today is the Day to celebrate being a Woman and appreciate all the wonderfully fabulous Women we surround ourselves with all through the Year not only Today. Work hard, follow your Dreams and you will achieve your Goals, however remember to also take time to ENJOY every minute along the way as life is for living so make sure that your life balance is always a happy medium and you will go far! 2) How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? Always being there for all the Women in your life whether it is family, friends, work colleagues we all need to be supportive to and for each other, giving positive advice, lifting each other spirits when needed. Standing together in unity when it is required as times can be tough in the world out there particularly for some Women in our society and across the World. Do not judge each other on superficial things as is always highlighted in the media, stand united and stay strong. Celebrating the good times together as they come along, and being a pillar of strength through the not so good times, lending a sympathetic ear when times are tough and being a shoulder to lean on and cry on which we all need at times. Remember to always have fun together along the way!
